THE POPULATION DEVELOPMENT IN THE LATEST ETİMESESUT FROM
THE REPUBLIC
ABSTRACT
This study was conducted in order to reveal the population development of Etimesgut
District from the foundation of the republic to the present day. Etimesgut, which was
established as a 50-dynasty village for the settlement of the Turks from Western Thrace with
the order of Atatürk in 1924-1925, the population grew rapidly due to the immigrations it took
over time and the population increased rapidly. Etimesgut's acquisition of the county status
on May 20, 1990 affected the population growth, after which very rapid increases occurred. In
the 63 years period from 1927 to 1990, the population reached 70,800; In the 27 years from
1990 to 2017, it rose to 56,600. Especially after the conclusion of the Sincan district, with an
average of Turkey seems to be on the rise too. Even in the period 2016-2017, the first order
was taken among the mainland cities in terms of the increase rate. Etimesgut has grown rapidly
due to the fact that the province grows increasingly and become one of the central districts,
creating an alternative to the housing prices which are high in the center. Today, Etimesgut
has become a big city with more population than the population of many cities in Anatolia.
These developments have played an important role, especially in improving centralized
transport, small and medium-sized industrial investments, and the fact that housing prices are
more attractive than many counties in the central region. It can be said that the Etimesgut
population will increase in the coming periods through natural migration and will be one of
the most populated regions of Ankara.
