SummaryIn 12 th century process of imitation of Roman law in the countries of Europe started.In 17 th century appeared the natural law theories in connection with the Enlightenment,which contributed the philosophical background for the present-day globalizationtendencies in European law. Important is that, the law is not protected by copyright,therefore there are no restrictions against law copying, exporting or importing toother countries, or using foreign legislative proposals as legal models. Transformationprocess began in Slovakia in the post-1989 period. Approximation is positive processwhich leads to alignment of legal cultures. Successful legal unification/approximationmust result from practical needs. Most important globalization factors in the legal developmentof Central and Eastern Europe: the EU law, the case-law of the ECHR, unificationof private and commercial law.
