AB A fuel injection arrangement (20 fig 2) for a turbine engine has a<br />

gaseous fuel injection means and a liquid fuel injection means which are<br />

both able to present fuel (7,9 fig 1) to a combustor (3 fig 1). The<br />

liquid fuel injection means incorporates an injection conduit for<br />

airflow 10 and a liquid fuel jet 30 presented at a high angle relative<br />

to the airflow. In use, at low fuel injection rates the airflow entrains<br />

and atomises fuel expelled by the fuel jet without impingement upon the<br />

injection conduit 31, and at high fuel injection rates fuel expelled by<br />

the liquid fuel jet impinges upon the injection conduit 31 to form a<br />

film (43 fig 4) which is subsequently atomised by the airflow. The<br />

injection conduit may progressively constrict towards an outlet 32,<br />

which may be approximately 1mm wide, and the liquid fuel jet may be<br />

inclined relative to the conduit to increase the distance before jet<br />

impingement occurs. The fuel jet may be round, oval, or square, and less<br />

than 1mm wide. The fuel injection arrangement allows alternative liquid<br />

fuels to be used such as diesel or kerosene, and a plurality of<br />

arrangements may form a fuel injection assembly.<br />

DETD 1 Fuel Injection The present invention relates to fuel injection and<br />

more particularly to fuel injection arrangements to allow dual fuel<br />

combustion in a combustor of a turbine engine. 5 Operation of turbine<br />

engines is well known and involves the use of a combustor in order to<br />

combust a fuel and therefore provide rotary power for the prime mover<br />

those features of the invention believed to be of particular importance<br />

it should be understood that the Applicant claims protection in respect<br />

of any patentable feature or combination of features hereinbefore<br />
