FORSCHUNG
Bemessung und Überwachung adaptiver
Strukturen mittels faseroptischer Sensoren
und aktiver Kontrolle
Projektleitung: Prof. Dr. E.N. Chatzi,
Prof. Dr. J. Schwartz
Mitarbeiterin: J. Felkner
Projektpartner: Albert Lück-Stiftung, Zürich
Heutzutage ist es dank Faserverbundwerkstoffen
mög lich, widerstandsfähigere und leichtere Bau -
wer ke zu bauen als jemals zuvor. Zu den An wen -
dungs bereichen gehören der Austausch korrodierter
Bewehrung in Stahlbeton, hybride Strukturen in
Kombination mit traditionellen Materialien sowie
einige Pilotprojekte, welche ausschliesslich aus
Ver bundwerkstoffen bestehen. Faser verbund werk -
Ver formungen.
In diesem Projekt wird der Schwerpunkt darauf
liegen, neue, funktionale Materialien in experimentelle
Structural Design and Monitoring of
Adaptive Structures using Fiber-Optic
Sensors and Active Control
Today, new materials such as fiber-reinforced polymers
are making it possible to build stronger and
lighter structures than ever before. Applications
include replacing corroded steel for concrete reinforcement,
combined hybrid structures with traditional
materials, and a few pilot projects for exclusively all
composite materials. Fiber-reinforced materials and
structurally integrated sensors are now being combined
to form smart structural components. These are
being used in the marine, automotive and aerospace
industries, and increasingly in civil engineering.
Fiber-optic sensors embedded within materials and
structural systems can noninvasively measure a
variety of parameters such as vibration, strain, and
deformation.
In this project, focus will be on integrating new,
functional materials into experimental, lightweight
composite structures for the purpose of monitoring
performance and actively controlling vibrations.
Using fiber optic sensors for monitoring the structural
loads in bridge structures, the long-term performance
of a new material can be assessed. Ope ra tio nal modal
analysis can identify the response of a struc ture in
order to decide if remedial action is required.
