FORSCHUNG
Verformungsverhalten von unbewehrtem
Mauerwerk
Projektleitung: Prof. A. Dazio
Mitarbeitende: Dr. K. Beyer, A. Abo El Ezz
In beiden
Deformation behaviour of unreinforced
masonry structures
It is generally accepted that force-based design
methodologies for URM structures implemented in
most current codes tend to be rather conservative,
while displacement-based methodologies show the
potential of leading to more rational and economic
structures. However, important data regarding the
deformation behaviour of URM structures is still
missing. The objective of this project therefore is to
better quantify the deformation behaviour of URM
structures in order that displacement-based ap -
proaches can be applied in practice. The project consists
of two major parts: The first concerns the outof-plane
behaviour and the second the in-plane behaviour.
In both parts of the project numerical and analytical
calculations are carried out as well as largescale
experiments. The out-of-plane behaviour is
investigated by means of shaking table tests [1] and
for the in-plane behaviour the focus is on the spandrel
beams [2].
