arten fahren die Fernbahnen in Norwegen, Schweden,
Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz seitdem
wirtschaftlich Höchstleistungen.
Die deutsche Elektroindustrie hat seit genau hundert
Jahren ihre höchste Kompetenz für 16 2 /3-Hz-Geräte
wie Schalter, Transformatoren, Kabel und Umrichter
bewiesen; manche Standardprodukte aus der
Bahnanwendung sind sogar direkt für die Windenergieübertragung
nutzbar.
Medien S. 213 in diesem Heft).
Die Lage verlangt hier umgehend das gesamtwirtschaftlich
Bessere, das heißt bildlich gesprochen
angesichts des drohenden Prellbocks: Schnellbremsung,
zurückrangieren, Weichen zum richtigen Gleis
umwerfen und dorthin neu beschleunigen.
AC 50 Hz would damage the motors, they took and
standardized 16 2 /3 Hz for this purpose. By combining
the advantages of both types of current since that
time State Railways in Norway, Sweden, Germany,
Austria and Switzerland are able to operate at highest
levels of performance and efficiency.
Since exactly one hundred years, German electric
industry has proven its outstanding competence in
16 2 /3 Hz components by providing breakers, transformers,
cables, converters and all related secondary
equipment. It is worth mentioning that some standard
products from railway applications can even be
used directly for transmitting wind energy. Last not
least it is a great advantage of this concept that only
heavy-metal technology will have to be installed and
packed in the saltwater instead of semiconductor
high-tech, which might require the revival of the
lighthouse man’s profession somewhat modified to
ensure its availability.
The idea is not new at all [1], while an up-to-date
paper is supporting this (see rubric Media p. 213 in
this issue).
The situation cries for veering around immediately
to what is the best for national economy, which
– figuratively speaking – means in view of the approaching
buffer-stop: emergency braking, shunting
backwards, throwing the points towards and accelerating
on the correct track.
