A.B. ⁄ Here I have to clearly separate what I think and what I hope:<br />
I hope more entrepreneurs and hoteliers will turn towards the region<br />
and offer a more varied range outside of the standards. I think<br />
though, that that’s not going to happen on a big scale, the cooking<br />
styles are going to become increasingly similar and at the end of the<br />
day it will not make a difference if you go to hotel A, B or C. The basic<br />
product will be the same everywhere because it’s really easy to order.<br />
J.V. ⁄ I hope the businesses on the Arlberg will move closer together<br />
and use their potential to create a kind of “Arlberg seal of quality”.<br />
The result would be that every guest finds a certain high level and an<br />
ideal mix when it comes to eating, sleeping and activities. This way<br />
the skiing area or the hiking region in summer could stand out and be<br />
different from other destinations. Kulinarik & Kunst is an initiative<br />
but the positioning of the Arlberg as a region of quality is my vision.<br />
A.B. ⁄ Of course we’re not the first to discuss this subject. It would<br />
be a dream if everything that has an Arlberg-label on it actually<br />
contained a piece of the Arlberg. The Arlberg is a symbol for great<br />
winter sports and more and more for hiking in summer and a better<br />
cooperation of the individual places would be desirable. Everybody<br />
should work together because there is “power in unity”, right?<br />
J.V. ⁄ Ideas like this sometimes need to be said out loud more often<br />
in order to get into contact with others who are also ready to develop<br />
something.<br />

L.L. ⁄ And what is your vision for the Tannenhof?<br />
A.B. ⁄ We’re glad we were able to welcome Christoph Zangerl as a<br />
chef into our team on December 1st, 2013. At the Interalpen Hotel<br />
he’s already achieved three Gault Millau toques and now our<br />
cuisine has taken great steps forward. Aside from a comfortable<br />
atmosphere for our house’s guests, we at the Tannenhof clearly<br />
focus on our cuisine, we want to position ourselves at the very top,<br />
not just in St. Anton but in Tyrol and all of Austria. We’re aware<br />
this is going to take a while and our expectations for the new<br />
Gault Millau’s rating of our house aren’t too high. (Editor’s note:<br />
In October 2014 Christoph Zangerl was awarded phenomenal<br />
17 points and three toques for the Tannenhof right away!) In<br />
any case it is our goal to set culinary accents with our creative alpine<br />
cuisine and in the future we hope to be able to welcome many<br />
friends of great flavours and good wines to our house.
