This year, we look back proudly
at over 25 years of successful
port marketing. With the foundation
of the association in February
1985, at the time under the name
Hafen Hamburg Verkaufsförderung
und Werbung, the work of the former
main department II of the association
of Hamburg Port Enterprises –
the general representative – was continued.
With newly created structures
and a new strategic alignment,
the founders of the association made
it their duty to directly and indirectly
strengthen the competitive position
of the Port of Hamburg through
specific activities.
Till this day we continue to follow this
principle, which is strongly embodied
in our statute for 25 years. The
work of our association is highly
accepted on a national and international
level. This is supported by the
increasing membership. A large part
of our members, well-known companies
of maritime-traffic and port
industries, branches of industries
and logistics as well as further service
providers, institutions and associations
are committed to the Port of
Hamburg. With the expansion of
our activities along the transport
chain, more and more companies
from the metropolitan region Ham -
burg, the regions along the Elbe and
the Elbe canal as well as the system
continuing seaport hinterland, use
our experience and our international
network.
The Port of Hamburg is Germany’s
largest seaport and is of great importance
for the worldwide export
trade. The success of the universal
port cannot be solely ascribed to
the future-oriented port policy, but
to worldwide marketing efforts.
For the past 25 years, we contribute
to the strengthening of the Port
of Hamburg’s competitive position
as well as of ports from the metropolitan
region through qualified
marketing.
Together with our ten representative
offices in Europe and overseas, we serve
foreign trade organizations, shipper
from industry and trade, the shipping
and logistics industry, industrial
regulatory bodies as well as political
decision makers in the market region.
With great commitment we promote
the attractiveness of the Port of Hamburg
with its excellent hinterland
connection as well as economical potential
of our more than 260 member
companies. In addition, we offer our
members and companies that are
directly and indirectly related to
the economic factor Port of Hamburg,
extensive marketing support.
Thereby, we do not only develop a
new range of services for our members,
but we increase our presence
in market regions, such as the BRIC
countries and the regions along the
