Networking within the network
Using synergy effects, pooling resources,
being present in important markets
– our worldwide network heavily
contributes to the success of our
work. With the development of markets
and the continuing globalization,
well-maintained contacts become
indispensable because they allow
for a quick and efficient response to
changes. Thus, we work intensively
with logistic initiatives, the chamber
of commerce and industry as well as
other associations and organizations
at the Hamburg site as well as in
relevant markets. We represent the
interests of the Port of Hamburg
and ports in the metropolitan region
through a number of national and
international associations and initiate
cooperations with strategically
important ports. In addition, our
maritime network includes companies
from a variety of industries, the
national and international port industries
and not to forget our representative
offices at home and abroad.
The communication with our members,
to whom we dedicate our services
and activities with great commitment,
is an important basis of our
daily work. Apart from the joint
representation in diverse committees,
we collaborate with our members
in many different ways and
maintain an intensive exchange of
experiences and information. In different
workshops, recommendations
for the work of the association are
formulated and strategies are developed
and discussed.
Together with our HHM representative
offices, we plan, coordinate and
implement our worldwide marketing
activities. We established market
contacts for our members with interesting
industry and export trade
business representatives as well as
with different carriers in the respective
markets. Market know-how and
the continuing market cultivation
through our employees at home and
abroad allows for a close cooperation
among all market participants
and creates synergies for the Port of
Hamburg. Our numerous events at
home and abroad provide a valuable
opportunity to exchange market
information and personally establish

We participate also in joint projects,
in which current topics of transport
policy as well as optimization options
of transport and transhipment processes
are developed. Thus, together
with partners from research and
practice, international marketing
strategies or sustainable transport
concepts in the areas coastal shipping
and hinterland are developed.
Moreover, within the framework of
projects market and location analyses,
our members have the opportunity to
commission cargo and traffic-related
as well as sectoral examinations.
Apart from detailed market and traffic
information in the form of analyses
and studies, our members regularly
receive statistics and reports about
the development of carriage of cargoes
at sea and hinterland traffic,
seaward export trade, transit traffic,
liner services and other areas.
Through consistent presence in national
and international media, we inform
the public about the Port of Ham burg
and port-related topics. With expert
interviews, journal articles and in
partnership with internationally operating
publishers, we provide our
members and the port with a broad
foundation. Organizing press meetings
and planning press conferences at
the Port of Hamburg constitutes
another core competence.
Annually, we produce a wide range
of publications all about the Port of
Hamburg. This includes the quarterly
bilingual “Port of Hamburg
Magazine,” the annual “Port of
Hamburg Hand book,” the liner
service departure directory “Port of
Hamburg Liner Services” as well as
numerous multilingual special
brochures with information about
the categories of goods, terminals
