Abstract
The intent of this work was the study of models similar to humans, exposed to low
acceleration. The model was build as a multibody system (MBS) and was used in
two different subjects of biomechanical questions. To describe different test persons,
the model was developed as a scaleable anthropometric humanoid model. The first
question was the evaluation of the ride comfort, meaning the multimodal stimulation
of the human-seat-model with stochastic signals. Due to the fact that this model is
a MIMO-system (multiple input, multiple output) in the frequency domain, a 6 × 6
matrix consisting of transferfunctions was introduced and showed that despite of
nonlinearities in the model this description is valid within a specific domain. An
adittional result of the matrix description is the existence of the minor diagonal
elements which are definitely necessary for the model. The second question concentrated
on the whiplash injury. For this the first model was extended with a detailed
cervical spine while the rest of the model inclusive the seat was retained. Using the
NIC-value (Neck Injury Criterion) as a biomechanical quality index some evaluations
were made to reduce that value. Some parameter variations were evaluated to
reveal some basic factors and to describe a possible injury mechanism.
