AG grows quite enthusiastic when
he speaks about the family project
on the Leisee, situated at 2,232 metres
above sea level.
“A fantastic adventure is being created
around the Leisee with the help
of many creative ideas contributed
by Zermatt Bergbahnen employees,”
according to Martin Niederberger.
The highlight is the unique
water park that will offer all sorts of
water fun, with waterwheels, water
spirals and a raft to play on. There’s
no limit to the fun to be had on the
Leisee, which can be reached with
the shuttle (just four and a half minutes
to Sunegga) or via hiking trails.
Among the new features are the picnic
pavilion, the barbeque area and
the comfortable wellness loungers
on the raised ‘Zermatt’ bathing
beach. One particularly popular experience
offered by the newly created
adventure land is the attractive
lake crossing on a wooden raft (secured
on a wire).
The shuttle takes visitors up to
Sunegga station for an adventure-filled
day where various hiking
paths lead back to Zermatt. And for
those who want to move a bit faster,
kick bikes (for adults and children)
are available for zooming back down
into the valley through Tuftern as
well as via more challenging downhill
stretches. The day’s program
can be rounded off with a one-hour
visit to the outdoor exhibition featuring
18 sculptures that offer insight
into Zermatt mountain history.
Those familiar with the Robinson
Crusoe game know that adventure
can be found along the Five Lakes
Walk with its unparalleled fauna
and flora.
Glacier Paradise:
You can always go a bit higher
Family excursions to the glacier
paradise are equally attractive and
educational. This world of snow and
adventure speaks a language all of
its own. The Peak Lift to the Klein
Matterhorn takes you to the highest
viewing platform in the Alps at
3,883 metres above sea level from
where you can marvel at 38 peaks
ranging over 4,000 meters tall. Additional
attractions are the audio information
system in the mountain
railways and in the cinema lounge in

the Breithornstollen. And while
making the impressive, historic and
photo-intensive journey to the glacier
paradise, visitors simply must
see the glittering glacier palace 15
metres below the surface with the
fantastic Breithorn panoramic windows.
The snow tubing facilities, for
sliding down the glacier on rubber
inner tubes, were improved last
summer.
The well known along with the newly
created family attractions show
that Zermatt and its mountain railways
always have something new to
offer.

internationales et porteuses
pour un secteur du sport alpin
transfrontalier et vise intensément à
satisfaire les clients existants,
comme à en conquérir de nouveaux.
Les fidèles visiteurs de Zermatt y
trouvent déjà leur compte, été
comme hiver. En tant que prestataire
de services, Zermatt Bergbahnen
a fait réaliser en collaboration
avec l’Office du tourisme une analyse
approfondie sur les exigences
de la clientèle et mise désormais
gros sur le tourisme familial.
Les familles sont essentielles à la
branche. Celui qui, enfant ou adolescent,
garde de bons souvenirs
d’une destination parce qu’il s’y
sentait bien y reviendra sans aucun
doute régulièrement et il comparera!
