Bergbahnen, Gastronomie und Gewerbe
zugute komme. Davon fliesst
einiges an das Festival zurück, denn
zahlreiche lokale Leistungsträger
wie Zermatt Tourismus, Burgerund
Einwohnergemeinde, Zermatt
Bergbahnen, Matterhorn Gotthard
Bahn, Hotelier- und Gewerbeverein
sowie diverse Restaurants und
Gewerbebetriebe unterstützen Zermatt
Unplugged.
Rund die Hälfte der vom Festival
benötigten Logiernächte übernehmen
engagierte Hotelpartner und
tragen so zum Gelingen des Festivals
bei. Gemeinsam mit über
200 freiwilligen Helfern fiebert ein
ganzes Dorf der nächsten Ausgabe
entgegen. Und kann auf das bisher
Geleistete wahrlich stolz sein.

Zermatt Unplugged
Gold Dust for the Matterhorn
Spring skiing and acoustic music;
with international stars and
Swiss musicians up close and
personal; a festival site situated
between 1,620 and 3,030 meters
above sea level with unparalleled
stages: all this and much more
can be found at the Zermatt Unplugged
Acoustic Music Festival.
It will be held from 14 – 18
April this year; five festival days
which will again enthrall over
twenty thousand visitors, artists
with their entourages, and locals
from Zermatt alike.
The festival, being held for the
eighth time, will once more ensure
that this spring Zermatt is seen as a
unique and special location in the
Alps. There will be a special spotlight
shone on the festival this year because
it was nominated for the
Swiss Tourism Prize, the Milestone,
in the “Outstanding Project” category.
The jury explained their
choice with the criteria set by the
festival management with Zermatt
Tourism in 2007: to extend the winter
season by creating added value
for the destination. The glamour of
international stars and a refreshing,
young, urban audience no only
benefits Zermatt, but Zermatt Unplugged
pays out for the destination
in hard cash. According to a value
creation study, conducted in partnership
with the HTW Chur
(University of Applied Sciences)
the festival generates a turnover of
12 million Swiss francs for Zermatt.
The net value creation amounts to
between 5.4 and 6.7 million Swiss
francs, which benefits hotels, mountain
railways, restaurants and local
businesses. Some of it also flows
back to the festival itself, because
numerous local sponsors, such as
Zermatt Tourism, the local municipality,
Zermatt Mountain Railway,
Matterhorn Gotthard Railway and
the Hotels and Business Association
also sponsor Zermatt Unplugged.
Around half the accommodations
required are provided by the committed
hotel partners, which contributes
to the success of the festival.
With more than 200 volunteer
helpers, the entire village is looking
forward to the next festival. And
can truly look back on what they
have so far accomplished with
pride.
