despite his hard work in the factory. That makes
it easy to understand where Massimo Galfano got
his passion for music from. In addition, his grandmother
was a soprano singer, composer and a violinist
explaining his musical roots.

Painful disease
Love for his home town was so strong that his
family decided to come back to Sicily in 1975, but
having lost everything they had because of the
earthquake, they lived in an iron shed adapted
for these kinds of emergency. When he was three
years old, his life changed totally: he was diagnosed
with a serious illness that involved his kidneys
and that made him unable to play with other
kids, to attend kindergarten, to eat candies, because
it stopped him from moving and also walking
was becoming a problem for him; so he got to
spend long time in hospital and specialised clinics,
living everyday between life and death. But
something inside of him still burned: it was his
need to convey to people what he was suffering

An excellent musician and
talented songwriter. Massimo
was alone after the
dissolution of his band and
resolved years ago. Today
he travels between Italy,
Germany and Austria. On
the side of Toto Cutugno he
performed in New York in
front of thousands of people
and presented in May
2012 his first album „Cenere
e Parole“. His next destination
is the world famous
Song Contest in Italy „SAN
REMO“.

Massimo Galfano signs autographs

and for this reason he began to study, so that he
would able to read and write correctly even when
he was only four years old. Soon, music became
his sole reason of existence.
In 1982, after having spent some painful years
treating himself, thanks to a routine check up he
discovered his illness had vanished into thin air
and he was a child again who could run, play, go
to school and eat those candies he had desired so
long. He became a dynamo who desired to sing
and cry aloud that he had overcome all obstacles.
When he was thirteen he made his theatre debut,
playing some very important roles in famous
comedies. But his desire to start a solo career was
rising, because he had only sung with his father’s
band until then.

Personal success
When he was nineteen, he met his future
wife and mother of his three children; the bigger
the responsibility, the more difficult it became
to be a singer, but he was so determined
that he started doing a lot of different works
to get enough money for attending singing lessons:
From gardening to waiting tables, factory
work, farming and dishwashing. During those
years he founded his first musical band “Terzo
Pensiero” (“Third Thought”): He was the singer,
his cousin played keyboards and the guitar, and
his sister was the chorister; in this way his first
artistic and economic satisfaction came, and
he maintained his family thanks to his music,
even if it was though.
He was happy even when he had nothing,
but he had his family on his side and was living
his dream, that of being a singer!
Some years later, after having hardly risen
through the ranks, his band broke up, and he
started his real solo career; he received his first
music awards, with competitions and by flying
all over Italy, Europe and America: finally his
songs had touched people’s souls and the consciousness
rose within him to be a man, a man
who lives through music.
