Ruprecht Georg (1887–1968)<br />
Von 1923 bis 1957 als Chefpräparator (Dermoplastiker und Dioramenbauer) am<br />
NMBE tätig.Hauptverantwortlich für die meisten Dioramen bis 1957 (Afrika-Ausstellung,<br />
«He<strong>im</strong>atmuseum»).Die Eingangslisten lassen nicht erkennen, welche<br />
der von ihm stammenden Vögel und Säugetiere er aktiv beschafft hat und wie viele<br />
er als Zufallsfunde ans NMBE geliefert hat.<br />
The German taxidermist Georg Ruprecht worked at the NMBE from 1923 to 1957.He was<br />
responsible for the majority of diorama displays.As a volunteer game warden of the Canton<br />
of <strong>Bern</strong>, he collected an<strong>im</strong>als found dead or by hunting.<br />
Total = 78: 7 Mammalia, 71 Aves from Switzerland, collected 1923–60.<br />

Sägesser Hannes (1930–1991)<br />
Hannes Sägesser trat 1960 als Leiter der Zoologischen Sammlungen in den<br />
Dienst des NMBE, von 1964–69 war er Konservator der neu geschaffenen Abteilung<br />
Wirbeltiere und 1968 zudem des Jagdmuseums in Schloss Landshut, Utzenstorf<br />
BE.Ab 1970 bis zu seinem Tode leitete er als Verwalter den <strong>Bern</strong>er Tierpark<br />
Dählhölzli*.Neben den aufgeführten Eingängen gibt es in den Sammlungen eine<br />
stattliche Zahl weiterer Objekte, die zwar nicht seinen Namen als Donator tragen,<br />
deren Beschaffung er aber in den genannten Funktionen und als Wildforscher veranlasst<br />
oder organisiert hat (Capreolus capreolus*, Rupicapra rupicapra*).<br />
Received his Ph.D.in zoology from the University of <strong>Bern</strong>.Head of the NMBE zoological department<br />
in 1960, became the curator of the newly established vertebrate department in<br />
1964.Six years later he was appointed director of the Zoological Garden Dählhölzli* in<br />
<strong>Bern</strong>.He was engaged in wildlife biology and contributed in various ways to the augmentation<br />
of the bird and mammal collections.<br />
Total = 131: 23 Mammalia, 58 Aves, 10 Reptilia, 39 Osteichthyes. 96 spec<strong>im</strong>ens are from<br />
Benin (collected 1961), 2 Ursus arctos middendorffi and several ungulates from Alaska<br />
(1962).<br />
