La Tour du Valat, a field station for biological research in the Camargue (France), was
founded by the Swiss zoologist Dr.Luc Hoffmann in 1953.The NMBE received the opportunity
to integrate birds and mammals from the Camargue into its collections.
Total = 97: 33 Mammalia (31 Myocastor coypus), 62 Aves (14 Egretta garzetta), 2 Reptilia
from the Camargue (F), collected 1972–83.

Zoologe, Gymnasiallehrer, später Ordinarius für Allgemeine Ökologie am Zoologischen
Institut* der Universität Bern (bis 1988).Im Rahmen zweier Ökologie-
Praktika (1971, 1973) wurden Untersuchungen an Kleinsäugern in der stadtnahen
Umgebung Berns durchgeführt.
Zoologist, high-school teacher, later professor of Ecology at the Zoological Institute of the
University of Bern (until 1988).In ecological laboratory courses, he supervised field
studies on small mammals within the surroundings of Bern (1971, 1973) and donated the
small mammals captured throughout the study to the NMBE.
Total = 116 Mammalia: small mammals (116 skulls, 68 skins), mainly Apodemus sylvaticus
and Clethrionomys glareolus, from the surroundings of Bern (1971–73).PS
Umiker Konrad
Kaufmann in Meilen ZH; keine weiteren Angaben zur Person vorhanden.Brachte
von einer Reise nach Ghana im August 1946 aus Sureso und Manso (Umgebung
von Asankrangwa) 111 lebende Reptilien (v.a.Schlangen) mit in die Schweiz zurück,
die dann via den Tierpark Dählhölzli Bern* ans NMBE gelangten.
Businessman in Meilen ZH, no biographical details known.As a result of a journey to Ghana
in August 1946 (region of Asankrangwa) he brought 111 living reptiles (mainly snakes)
back to the Bernese Zoological Garden*; from there they were transfered after their death
to the NMBE.

Zoologe, Studium an der Universität Bern.Diplom 1992. 1993–97 Durchführung
verschiedener herpetologischer Studien in Madagaskar. 1999 Doktorat.Arbeitete
1990 und von 1993–98 als Teilzeitassistent im NMBE.Das seiner Dissertation
zugrunde liegende Sammlungsmaterial aus Madagaskar, darunter auch Typusexemplare
(293 Amphibien, darunter mehrere Typusexemplare), ist im NMBE hinterlegt.
