The legislation does not provide councils with an explicit power <strong>to</strong> alter the name of a street (or road).<br />
The procedure <strong>to</strong> be undertaken by councils in changing the name of a street (or road) is not detailed in<br />
the legislation and is a matter for each individual council.<br />
I am aiming <strong>to</strong> issue for consultation proposals on street names, which will include the issue of<br />
providing councils with explicit powers <strong>to</strong> rename streets, by the end of the year.<br />
Supplier Invoices Paid by Councils During 2011/12<br />
Mr Campbell asked the Minister of the Environment, in relation <strong>to</strong> supplier invoices paid by councils<br />
during the 2011/12 financial year, <strong>to</strong> detail (i) the number of invoices paid; and (ii) how many invoices<br />
were paid (a) within 30 days; and (b) later than 30 days, following receipt of the supplier’s invoice.<br />

plus the number paid both within and outside of 30 days, is provided in the attached table.<br />
