Mr Hazzard asked the Minister for Regional Development, pursuant <strong>to</strong> AQW 13017/11-15, for his<br />
assessment of the daily traffic flow on the A7 Downpatrick <strong>to</strong> Belfast road compares with traffic flow on<br />
all other ancillary roads in<strong>to</strong> the city.<br />

Mr Kennedy: My Department’s Roads Service has advised that traffic volumes are recorded at a<br />
number of permanent sites located throughout the <strong>Northern</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong> road network. The collection of<br />
traffic data contributes <strong>to</strong> the effective management of the road network, the allocation of Roads<br />
Service’s financial resources and the development of future proposals for the network.<br />
The most recent Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) traffic flow information, recorded on the major<br />
ancillary roads in<strong>to</strong> Belfast including the A7 Downpatrick – Belfast Road, is provided in the table below:
