GENERAL INFORMATION<br />
12-1. ARRANGEMENT OF UNITS IN FORMATION<br />
a. In <strong>ceremonies</strong> involving the U.S. <strong>Marine</strong> Corps <strong>and</strong> U.S. Navy units,<br />
the <strong>Marine</strong> unit shall he on the right of the line or the head of the<br />
column. The senior line officer, regardless of service, functions as the<br />
comm<strong>and</strong>er of troops.<br />
b. In <strong>ceremonies</strong> involving other services of the United States, the<br />
order of formation from right to left in line <strong>and</strong> front to rear in column<br />
is as indicated below. The senior line officer, regardless of service,<br />
functions as the comm<strong>and</strong>er of troops.<br />
(1) Cadets, United States Military Academy.<br />
(2) Midshipmen, United States Naval Academy.<br />
(3) Cadets, United States Air Force Academy.<br />
(4) Cadets, United States Coast Guard Academy.<br />
(5) United States Army.<br />
(6) United States <strong>Marine</strong> Corps.<br />
(7) United States Navy.<br />
(8) United States Air Force.<br />
(9) United States Coast Guard.<br />
(10) Army National Guard of the United States.<br />
(11) Army Reserve.<br />
(12) <strong>Marine</strong> Corps Reserve.<br />
(13) Naval Reserve.<br />
(14) Air National Guard of the United States.<br />
(15) Air Force Reserve.<br />
(16) Coast Guard Reserve.<br />
(17) Gather training organizations of the Army, Piece Corps; Navy,<br />
Air Force, <strong>and</strong> Coast Guard in that order, reactively.<br />
(18) During any period WII the United States Coast Guard shall<br />
operate as part of the United States Navy, the cadets, United<br />
States Coast Guard Academy, the United States Coast Guard, <strong>and</strong><br />
the Coast Guard Reserve shall take precedence, respectively,<br />
next after the United States Naval Academy, the United States<br />
Navy; Naval Reserve.<br />
c. When foreign troops are invited to participate in <strong>ceremonies</strong> within<br />
the territorial jurisdiction of the United States, they will he assigned a<br />
position of honor ahead of United States troops. A small detachment of<br />
United States; troops will immediately precede the foreign troop as a<br />
Guard of honor.<br />
d. When troops of two or more foreign nations participate, the order<br />
of precedence among them will be determined except for the provisions of<br />
the above subparagraph, by the comm<strong>and</strong>er of troops in accordance with one<br />
of the following methods, whichever is deemed most appropriate:<br />
