(2) From carry guidon, movements to present guidon, order guidon, <strong>and</strong><br />
ready guidon may be executed.<br />
c. Carry Guidon From Order Guidon.<br />
(1) This is executed on a preparatory comm<strong>and</strong>, such as FORWARD,<br />
which requires moving to a new position. Execution is begun on<br />
the preparatory comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />
(2) On the preparatory comm<strong>and</strong>, place the left h<strong>and</strong> on the staff 2<br />
inches above the right.<br />
(3) Loosen the grip of the right h<strong>and</strong>. Pull the staff up with the<br />
left h<strong>and</strong> until the ferrule is 6 inches above the deck. Bold<br />
the staff straight with the right h<strong>and</strong>.<br />
(4) Move the left h<strong>and</strong> smartly back to the side.<br />
d. Order Guidon From Carry Guidon.<br />
(1) The comm<strong>and</strong> is ORDER, ARMS. It is executed in one count.<br />
(2) On ARMS allow the staff to slip through the right h<strong>and</strong> until the<br />
ferrule touches the deck.<br />
e. Present Guidon From Order or Carry Guidon.<br />
(1) From order guidon at the halt, the comm<strong>and</strong> is PRESENT, ARMS.<br />
From carry guidon on the march, the comm<strong>and</strong> is EYES, RIGHT. At<br />
officers center, the movement is executed at a halt, from carry,<br />
without comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />
(2) Because the right h<strong>and</strong> is 6 inches lover on the staff at carry<br />
than at order, the ferrule will extend farther to the rear when<br />
at present guidon from order than it will at present guidon from<br />
carry.<br />
(3) From order guidon, the comm<strong>and</strong> is PRESENT, ARMS. It is executed<br />
in one count.<br />
(4) On ARMS, lover the guidon straight to the front, until the<br />
staff, resting in the pit of the right arm, is horizontal. As<br />
the staff is lowered, turn it to the right so the sharp edge of<br />
the spearhead faces down. Hold your right elbow firmly against<br />
the body (see fig. 6-3).<br />
