(4) Without lowering the muzzle or the right h<strong>and</strong>, grasp the slide<br />

with the thumb <strong>and</strong> fingers of the left h<strong>and</strong>, thumb on the left<br />

side of the slide <strong>and</strong> pointing downward. Keep the left<br />

forearm parallel with the deck. Push the slide all the way to<br />

the rear <strong>and</strong> engage the slide stop in to notch with the right<br />

thumb (see fig. 4-4). Look into the chamber; if it is not<br />

empty, empty it. Take the magazines from under the belt with<br />

the left h<strong>and</strong>. Raise the left h<strong>and</strong> to the height of the belt,<br />

forearm parallel to the deck, elbow at the side, palm up,<br />

fingers extended <strong>and</strong> joined. Hold the magazine in the open<br />

b<strong>and</strong>, follower to the rear (see fig. 4-5).<br />

e. Attention (Pistol in Holster) From inspection arms.<br />

(1) The comm<strong>and</strong> is PORT, ARMS. It is the only comm<strong>and</strong> which may<br />

be executed from inspection arms.<br />

(2) On ARMS return the magazine to a position between the belt <strong>and</strong><br />

outer garment with the thumb of the left h<strong>and</strong>, release the<br />

slide stop. Keep the muzzle up <strong>and</strong> squeeze the trigger.<br />

Remove the magazine from the belt with the left h<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

insert into the pistol. Return the pistol to the holster <strong>and</strong><br />

button the flap with the right h<strong>and</strong>.<br />
