c. To form at close interval, the comm<strong>and</strong> is AT CLOSE INTERVAL,<br />

FALL IN (see fig. 7-4).<br />

d. The squad forms in line on the left of the squad leader. Each<br />

member of the squad, except the left flank name places his left<br />

h<strong>and</strong> on his hip, elbow in line with his body. He rests the heel<br />

of the palm on the hip with fingers extended <strong>and</strong> joined <strong>and</strong><br />

pointing down, Each man except the squad leader turns his head<br />

<strong>and</strong> looks to the right. To obtain close interval, he places<br />

himself in line so his right arm touches the elbow of the man on<br />

his right. As soon as each man is in line with the man on his<br />

right, <strong>and</strong> the man on his left has obtained close interval, he<br />

turns smartly <strong>and</strong> quickly to the position of attention.<br />

e. If the squad is armed, men fall in with weapons at the position<br />

of order arms. Pieces are inspected at once.<br />
