e. The squad marches in line for minor changes of position only.<br />

f. When the squad is armed with rifles:<br />

(1) The comm<strong>and</strong> RIGHT (LEFT) SHOULDER, ARMS or PORT (SLING), ARMS<br />

is given before comm<strong>and</strong>ing the squad to move, except for short<br />

distances, when the comm<strong>and</strong> TRAIL ARMS may be given.<br />

(2) At the comm<strong>and</strong> SQUAD, HALT, remain at the position of right<br />

shoulder (left shoulder or port) arms until ORDER, ARMS or some<br />

other <strong>manual</strong> comm<strong>and</strong> is given.<br />

7-2. TO FORM THE SQUAD<br />

a. To form at normal interval (see fig. 7-3), the comm<strong>and</strong> is FALL IN.<br />

b. The squad forms in line on the left of the squad leader. Each<br />

member of the squad, except the left flank man, raises his left<br />

arm shoulder high in line with his body. Fingers are extended <strong>and</strong><br />

joined, palm down. Each man except the squad leader turns his<br />

head <strong>and</strong> looks to the right. To obtain a normal interval, each<br />

man places himself in line so his right shoulder touches the<br />

fingertips of the man on his right. As soon as each man is in<br />

line with the man on his right, <strong>and</strong> the man on his left has<br />

obtained normal interval, he turns smartly <strong>and</strong> quickly to the<br />

position of attention.<br />
