Description. Length L5-2.0 mm (head excluded). Integument<br />
Iight to dark reddish brown; legs generally lighter' Elytral pubescence<br />
white or gray, with dark brown setae; white or gray setae usually more<br />
abundani, forming vague transverse line on basal third; posterior third<br />
variously mottled; brown setae in basal spot and large transverse<br />
median spot, and scattered on posterior two-thirds. Frons strongly<br />
conyex, with large, shallow, closely placed punctures. Rostrum<br />
distinctly flattened, broad; surface as on frons. Pronotum 1.2 times<br />
wider than long, widest at basal angles; sides arcuate to broadly rounded<br />
anterior margin; disc weakly convex before antebasal carina; surface<br />
smooth, with dense, shallow, rather large, close set punctures; antebasal<br />
carina remote from base, acutely elevated, emarginate. Elytra about 1.3<br />
times longer than wide; sides parallel on basal two-thirds; apex broadly<br />
rounded; striae punctured, not impressed, with deeply impressed<br />
moderately large punctures; interstriae about as wide as striae, smooth'<br />
with scattered minute points.<br />
Distribution. New Brunswick to Ontario, south through the<br />
eastern United States to Texas and Florida and west to Nebraska.<br />
New Brunswick: Kouchibouguac National Park' Ontario: Arnprior,<br />
Brockville, Leamington, Prince Edward County, and Rondeau<br />
Provincial Park. Quebec: Hudson Heights.<br />
