This genus <strong>of</strong> about 400 species is known in all parts <strong>of</strong> the world<br />

except Central and South America. Four species are known in North<br />

America, only one <strong>of</strong> which occurs in <strong>Canada</strong>. H<strong>of</strong>fmann (1958) states<br />

that in France species <strong>of</strong>this genus form galls on various plants.<br />
