High-quality transfer membrane for all detection systems - extremely<br />

suitable for all protein transfer and detection methods. The membrane<br />

stands out for its particularly high mechanical stability. The pure 100 %<br />

nitrocellulose quality membrane is easy to block and allows for backgroundfree<br />

blots with perfect bands. The pore size of 0.2 µm is suitable for proteins<br />

and peptides of all sizes. Its excellent protein binding capacity not only<br />

efficiently prevents the blot from going through during electronic transfer,<br />

but also guarantees highly sensitive detection of even low protein amounts.<br />

Applications:<br />

Western- and far-western-blot, colony- and plaque-lifting of nucleic acid and<br />

proteins, immunoblots, dot-blots.<br />

Nitrocellulose Membrane Filters<br />

Original by Whatman/Schleicher & Schuell<br />

Binding capacity: 80-90 µg/cm 2 (0.2 µm) or 75-85 µg/cm 2 (0.45 µm)<br />

Made from 100 % nitrocellulose.<br />

Multiple use - ideal for most nucleic acid and protein immobilizing<br />

techniques. Pure nitro-cellulose, free from cellulose acetate and triton.<br />

They have a high binding capacity and low background.<br />

The fibre-reinforced version allows extensive handling of membrane,<br />

easier cutting, repeated hybridization and automated immobilizing.<br />

Applications:<br />

Southern, Northern, Western transfer, colony and plaque hybridization,<br />

immunoblots, nucleic acid and protein dot-blot, slot-blot, electrophoretic<br />

transfer of proteins. (Nitrocellulose should only conditionally be used for<br />

electrophoretic transfer of nucleic acids, because of the high salt<br />

concentrations required for the transfer).<br />

Membranes of 0.45 µm pore size allow for DNA transfer (minimum 300 bp)<br />

and protein transfer (minimum 20 kD).<br />
