MOST AMERICANS HAVE NEVER KNOWN the incredible story of how the Central Intelligence Agency overthrew the government of the democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq, shown above while still in office, and replaced him with the repressive and violent Shah. If Americans only knew of this elaborate scheme, which resulted in the execution of many Iranian officials, they would better understand the origins of the Iranian people's justified animosity toward the U.S. government.
