Future employers<br />

The future pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lifestyle Pr<strong>of</strong>essional is to analyze trends, to develop and<br />

to introduce Lifestyle concepts. Students can find work in marketing, innovation,<br />

R&D but also in New Business Development. In addition <strong>the</strong>re are more and more<br />

companies that use <strong>the</strong> knowledge <strong>of</strong> trends and <strong>of</strong> consumer needs to develop concepts<br />

for <strong>the</strong>ir customers.<br />

Finally students can also be selfemployed as a creative entrepreneur or related functions.<br />

More than one hundred companies have made it clear that <strong>the</strong>y would like to work with<br />

interns and graduates. Companies such as Achmea, The Efteling, Fair Trade Original,<br />

GGD, Hema, Leolux, Mundial Productions, Nike, Philips, Thermae 2000 and The Sting.<br />

Well-known academic trendwatcher<br />

Dr. Carl Rohde works for International Lifestyle Studies. He made his pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong><br />

trendwatching. He belongs to <strong>the</strong> top <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dutch trendwatchers. During <strong>the</strong>ir first year<br />

students participate in an international research, International Cool City Hunt Project,<br />

under <strong>the</strong> direction <strong>of</strong> Carl Rohde. Toge<strong>the</strong>r with students from o<strong>the</strong>r business schools and<br />

universities abroad <strong>the</strong>y are in search <strong>of</strong> new concepts that might be considered Cool.<br />

Not Cool hip but Cool that is attractive, inspiring with future growth potential. These products<br />

or concepts found in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Coolhunts</strong> will be translated into future trends.<br />

In this booklet dr. Carl Rohde has selected <strong>the</strong> <strong>25</strong> coolest examples, found by first year<br />

students <strong>of</strong> International Lifestyle Studies 2010-2011. He analyzed <strong>the</strong>se examples<br />

thoroughly. First to make it for <strong>the</strong> students more transparent what this valuable methodology<br />

consists <strong>of</strong>.<br />

Second to show representatives <strong>of</strong> organizations and companies what International<br />

Lifestyle Studies and lectorate Trendwatching do with trends in this program.<br />
