Mu'ath 4l; therefore kept his place and called out, "0 Muslims, whoever wants a
horse to go and fight in the Path of Allah may take my horse and weapons." His son,
'Abduragman, came and said, "0 father, me!" This pre-adolescent boy put on the
weapons and mounted the horse and then said, "Father, I am going to that Christian.
If! am patient and attain victory then that is Allah's favour. If! am killed then I greet
you now already and ask you if you have any message for Rasulullah!f;?"
Mu 'dth ~ : My son, convey my salam to him and say, "May Allah reward you well
on behalf of the Ummah." My son, go! May Allah guide you towards that which He
of whom could interpret it. A.mir then said, "I know its interpretation."
"What is it, Ibn at-Iufayl?" they asked him.
'Amir ~ : It means that I will be killed. The woman whom I entered represents the
Earth. My son will then be wounded and soon join me.
He fought at Yamamah but did not suffer anything and returned safely.
Now at al-Yarmuk he went out to fight the Roman as if he were a blazing fire or
