12) 'Umar" arrives at Baytul Muqaddas<br />

Muqaddas heard and the patriarch said to them, "Woe unto you! Why are the 'Arabs<br />

making a noise for no reason? Go and investigate."<br />

One <strong>of</strong> them who knew 'Arabic called out to the Muslims, "0 'Arabs, what is<br />

happening?"<br />

A Muslim replied, "<strong>The</strong> Commander <strong>of</strong> the Believers, 'Umar bin al-Khattab has<br />

come to us from al-Madinah, We are shouting for joy."<br />

<strong>The</strong> man went to inform the patriarch who bowed his head in silence.<br />

After having led the Muslims in Saliitul Fajr the next day, 'Vmar • said to<br />

Abu'Ubaydah es, "0 'Amir, go and inform the people that I have arrived."<br />

AbU 'Ubaydah es went and called out, "0 people <strong>of</strong> this city, the Commander <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Believers has arrived. What will you do about what you had previously said?"<br />
