ELGIN B<strong>AY</strong>LOR 1977 CITY OF LOS ANGELES HALL OF FAME PLAQUE<br />

A plaque presented to Elgin Baylor on May 2, 1977, by the City of Los Angeles,<br />

California, to commemorate his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.<br />

Baylor was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1958-59, an 11-time NBA All-Star,<br />

and was named to the All-NBA First Team from 1959-65 and 1967-69. The<br />

beveled wood plaque features a raised color crest of the City of Los Angeles<br />

with an engraved white metal plaque mounted below that reads “In tribute to<br />

the induction of/ Elgin Baylor/ To the Hall of Fame on May 2, 1977, / for his<br />

outstanding contributions in the world of sports. / May 2, 1977/ Tom<br />

Bradley.” The plaque is signed “Elgin Baylor” in silver marker.<br />

Player/ 1976/ Date of Election.” Baylor was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1976 but was officially enshrined into the Hall of Fame in 1977.<br />
