ELGIN BAYLOR 1977 CITY OF LOS ANGELES HALL OF FAME PLAQUE
A plaque presented to Elgin Baylor on May 2, 1977, by the City of Los Angeles,
California, to commemorate his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Baylor was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1958-59, an 11-time NBA All-Star,
and was named to the All-NBA First Team from 1959-65 and 1967-69. The
beveled wood plaque features a raised color crest of the City of Los Angeles
with an engraved white metal plaque mounted below that reads “In tribute to
the induction of/ Elgin Baylor/ To the Hall of Fame on May 2, 1977, / for his
outstanding contributions in the world of sports. / May 2, 1977/ Tom
Bradley.” The plaque is signed “Elgin Baylor” in silver marker.

A certificate mounted to a wood plaque presented to Elgin Baylor for his election to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1976. The plaque features a picture of
Baylor and reads “Certificate of Election/ Basketball Hall of Fame/ Elgin Baylor/ Has Been Elected By The Honors Committee Of The Hall of Fame/ As
Player/ 1976/ Date of Election.” Baylor was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1976 but was officially enshrined into the Hall of Fame in 1977.
