ELGIN B<strong>AY</strong>LOR 1954 C.I.T. MOST POINTS TROPHY<br />

A trophy presented to Elgin Baylor in 1954 for scoring the most points<br />

in the City Invitational Tournament (C.I.T.). In 1954, Baylor attended Spingarn<br />

High School in Washington, D.C., and was honored with 1st<br />

team All Met and won the SSA’s Livingston Trophy as the area’s Best<br />

Basketball Player in 1954. The trophy features a yellow metal male<br />

basketball figure standing on top of a yellow metal and plastic base<br />

flanked by two metal birds framed by yellow plastic. The engraved<br />

plaque reads “C.I.T./ Most Points/ Tourney/ 1954.”<br />

A trophy presented to Elgin Baylor in 1954 for being named Most Valuable<br />

Player at the high school level City Invitational Tournament (C.I.T.). Baylor<br />

joined Spingarn High School in 1954 and in that same year was named 1st<br />

team All-Met and also won the SSA’s Livingstone Trophy as Washington,<br />

D.C.’s best basketball player in 1954. Baylor finished with a 36.1 points<br />

per game average for his eight inter-high Division II league games. The trophy<br />

features a yellow metal male basketball figure on top of a yellow metal<br />

chalice. This chalice sits on a yellow plastic and yellow metal base that is engraved<br />

with the words “C.I.T./ M.V.P./ 1954.”<br />

school, Joel Elias Spingarn High School in<br />

Washington, D.C. The award is a wood<br />

plaque mounted on a wood base, featuring<br />

an attached engraved metal plaque.<br />

For Outstanding Achievement/ In The<br />

N.B.A./ Spingarn/ Alumni Association/<br />
