A collection of five trophies from Elgin Baylor’s early career. Three of the trophies<br />

have plaques with no engraving, and the other two have no plaques.<br />

All trophies come from Baylor’s Spingarn High School years, and the trophies<br />

were awarded by either the Southwest Boys Club Recreation Center or<br />

the Southeast Recreation Center.<br />

A collection of four basketball trophies presented to Elgin Baylor for his<br />

accomplishments on the basketball court during his years at Spingarn<br />

High School in Washington, D.C. Present in the group are a trophy with<br />

a mounted blank plaque and two additional trophies that were presented<br />

to Baylor at either the Southwest Boys Club or Southeast Recreational<br />

Center leagues that Baylor played in during his high school years. Affixed<br />

to the fourth trophy is a plaque that reads “SSA’s Livingston Trophy/<br />

Presented to/ Elgin Baylor of Spingarn/ As outstanding high<br />

school basketball player/ 1954.”<br />

A green cotton short-sleeve T-shirt with<br />

yellow lettering that reads “Joel Elias<br />

Spingarn/ 22/ Basketball.” Baylor<br />

played basketball at, and attended,<br />

Spingarn High School in Washington,<br />

D.C. The shirt is signed by Baylor in<br />

silver marker. Size 4XL.<br />
