DIRK ZIMMERMANN’S TRIAL<br />

23 October 2009: At CTC the weather was overcast and I cleared the road<br />

from the intersection back to the traffic sign. I gave up because nobody was<br />

working: a large number of fellows are attending the First Aid course, and<br />

after lunch there was to be a footy match but there were not enough players<br />

for a team game.<br />

I made my way to the pottery shed where Daniel helps me fix my mughandle<br />

with his slip mixture – something’s not quite right with the mould<br />

and so the handle had not filled properly.<br />

As I leave the pottery shed I see a dozen fellows milling around the Visitors<br />

Centre’s BBQ – Noel and Tom’s Christian group has just had its lunch. I<br />

join them for a can of soft drink.<br />

As I enter the Cell Block Jim informs me he has just had a telephone<br />

conversation with his Parole Officer who has advised Manager Oates,<br />

‘Don’t get his hopes up’, for an early release. The state political system is<br />

playing with Jim, trying to break him down. The Parole Board wants him to<br />

establish a bank account and other things, which he has done once before –<br />

and nothing happened. This time Jim refuses to co-operate, especially<br />

because at the last board hearing that he attended the members had the<br />

wrong file in front of them!<br />

On this day in Germany an important trial is held, that of Dirk<br />

Zimmermann. Markus Haverkamp reported:<br />
