<strong>12.0</strong> <strong>Release</strong> <strong>Notes</strong> - Introduction<br />

Various changes have been made to the <strong>HyperWorks</strong> <strong>12.0</strong> software package including the <strong>HyperWorks</strong><br />

products, hardware support, installation, invoking, and online help. Changes to the Altair Licensing System<br />

are detailed in the Altair Licensing <strong>Release</strong> <strong>Notes</strong>.<br />

Operating System Additions<br />

Support has been added for:<br />

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 and 6.2 (x86_64)<br />

• SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11.0 SP2 (x86-64)<br />

• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.0 SP2 (x86-64)<br />

• Mac OS X 10.7 (x86_64)<br />

Discontinued Hardware Platform Support<br />

Support for the following platforms has been dropped across all <strong>HyperWorks</strong> applications:<br />

New Installation Third Party Software<br />

<strong>HyperWorks</strong> installer has been updated to InstallAnywhere 2011SP3 for all supported platforms.<br />

<strong>HyperWorks</strong> <strong>12.0</strong> installer provides the same installer experience across Linux, Mac OS X, and<br />

Windows platforms.<br />

Installation and Packaging<br />

• The <strong>HyperWorks</strong> software package is split into several independent product packages. It gives user<br />

options to download desired packages for installation as needed.<br />

• An SA update can either be installed on an existing <strong>12.0</strong> installation, or can be installed<br />

independently without the pre-requisite of a <strong>12.0</strong> base. Multiple product SA updates can now be<br />

installed concurrently with or without the <strong>12.0</strong> base.
