visualization, reporting and performance data management. Leveraging a revolutionary “pay-for-use,”<br />

token-based business model, <strong>HyperWorks</strong> delivers increased value and flexibility over other software<br />

licensing models. Firmly committed to an open-systems philosophy, <strong>HyperWorks</strong> continues to lead the<br />

industry with the broadest interoperability to commercial CAD and CAE solutions.<br />

<strong>HyperWorks</strong> <strong>12.0</strong> is the new version of Altair’s CAE software suite. It includes a large number of new<br />

functionalities to support optimization-driven product design and predictive multi-physics analysis,<br />

combined with a strong focus on usability and performance.<br />

Modeling and Visualization Capabilities<br />

The modeling and visualization tools in <strong>HyperWorks</strong> include:<br />

• HyperMesh: A powerful tool for creating and understanding finite-element models<br />

• HyperView: A general-purpose visualization tool for CAE results<br />

• HyperGraph: A user-extensible plotting tool for CAE data<br />

• MotionView: An open tool for understanding and improving multi-body systems<br />

• HyperCrash: Specialized modeling environment for automotive crash and safety<br />

• <strong>HyperWorks</strong> Collaboration Tools: simulation data organization and management<br />

HyperMesh<br />

HyperMesh <strong>12.0</strong> includes many enhancements to further strengthen core competencies and domainspecific<br />

tools and to improve and automate CAE model build and simulation processes. Several new<br />

features have been added to enhance HyperMesh’s shell and solid meshing capabilities that yield<br />

significant reductions in model build times. To further reduce model build time, new connector realizations<br />

are available that automate many steps needed to produce a high-quality, fully assembled model.<br />

<strong>HyperWorks</strong> <strong>12.0</strong> sees major gains in workflow efficiency with regard to modeling of composite structures.<br />

Usability<br />

• Cross-Reference Browser enhancements<br />

Geometry<br />

• Updated interfaces include support for Catia V5-6R2012, UG NX 8.0, ACIS R21 and SOLIDWORKS<br />

• Geometry export now includes STEP and Parasolid<br />

• Solid editing: Cut with plane perpendicular to edge via X-edge selection manipulators<br />

Meshing<br />

• The new MidSurface Mesh tool enables direct extraction of a shell mesh from solid geometry and<br />

applies the thicknesses to the corresponding meshed output.<br />

• Thin Solids mesh enables the automatic hexa and/or penta dominant mesh for thin plastic or sheetmetal-type<br />

parts
