User Defined Functions
There are few upgrades to this module. The maximum number of user-defined nodal and element
results is now increased to 10. In addition to the primary variable, now all the computed data is sent
to the UDF routines. These include rate of deformation tensor, temperature gradients, billet interface,
skin interface, and stresses.
Output Filenames
HyperXtrude output file naming convention has changed. Now the current output files will always
have the name .. If that folder has previously computed results, those files will be
renamed.
Resolved Issues
• Heat balance table printed in the .out file will include tool surface BC.
• Bug fixes to error in unit conversion in different modules.
12.0 Release Notes - HyperXtrude for Billet Forging
HX-Forge is a new solver module in HyperXtrude for billet forging simulation. Billets used in extrusion
are often forged to obtain a desired cross-sectional shape and desired microstructure (grain size)
before being extruded. Hence, this complements the metal extrusion simulation.
Hot and Cold Forging
Support for forging of hot or cold billets.
Round to Round Forging
Support for forging of diameter reduction of circular cross-section billets. Solver will support multiple
forging sequences.
Square to Square Forging
Support for forging of square billets. Solver will support multiple forging sequences.
Grain Size and Other Results
Solver predicts the history of temperature, strain and strain rate during the forging process. Results
