ased on the specified container and die data. If there are other tool components in the model, you
have to manually edit the GRF file and modify this data. This is data is relevant only for transient
analysis.
Glass Properties
Glass Properties is used to model glass pads used in super alloy extrusion. It is available now from
material database window.
Interior Surface BCs
These BCs are used for diagnostic purposes to better understand the material flow in a multi-hole die,
as the solver will print the mass and heat flux through these faces. Extrusion Wizard will automatically
capture interior faces between two workpiece components having same material and mark them as
interior surface boundaries.
Friction Models
BC editor is enabled to support all friction models.
Resolved Issues
• Bugs in determining the bearing starting point have been fixed. Now the macro will ignore the 3D
mesh and use only the solids in the model to determine the bearing starting position. In addition,
user can modify the detected starting point.
• When importing existing data decks, HX will read the parameter file and update the Extrusion
Wizard and Process Parameters cards. This fix includes improvements to bearing profile import.
• Tube Extrusion Wizard:
• Few meshing related bug fixes were implemented. Tolerances used are made unit dependent
to resolve meshing issues. In addition, additional checks are implemented to verify the
dependency in meshing parameters.
• For rod extrusion, there is no mandrel and hence no mandrel BCs. Application error related to
this is issue is fixed
• Data checks to validate the geometry data are implemented
• Separated Mesh and BC creation process steps in Tube Extrusion Wizard for better control
• Redesigned Model/Process information GUI in Tube Extrusion Wizard
• BC check for undefined boundary faces assumed that for every load collector there will be a
corresponding collector with BC faces and the vice versa. This was throwing an error if user had
accidentally deleted one of them. This is issue is fixed. In addition, when the new BCs for undefined
faces are created – they are created with correct conditions and the user will be not be able export
a model that contains BCs created by “check undefined BC”. User will have to inspect and rename
this BC to export the model.
• Checks to ensure billet length specified is greater than butt length is not relevant to steady state
analysis. This data check is streamlined now and the underlying errors in the default values (unit
dependency) are corrected.
• Bug fixes to control point selection panel. Even if user selects points that are not part of the
bearing profile, they will be automatically rejected.
• Interface will support only the standard indirect extrusion, where the dummy block and container
move along the extrusion axis. Indirect extrusion with moving die will be supported in the next
release.
