Auto Collision Detection for Boundary Layer Growth
The boundary layer (BL) reduction step is now included into the BL generation routine. During
boundary layer generation a collision check is performed and the boundary layer thickness is adjusted
dynamically.
Advanced Parameters for Boundary Layer Generation
Three new options to control the boundary layer growth mechanism have been introduced, including a
quality focused and a meshing time focused set of predefined parameters. Selecting the user defined
option will give access to several boundary layer parameters which can be adjusted individually for
each application.
Option to Specify Fluid and Non-fluid Volumes
Option to specify fluid and non-fluid volumes: For the fluid volumes, a tetra mesh including a boundary
layer will be generated; whereas the non-fluid domains will be tetrameshed only.
Simple Boundary Selection
An option to simplify the user input for CFD tetrameshing has been added; for example, cases
containing internal control surfaces.
2D BL Meshing (Smooth)
The utility has been enhanced by the following features:
• Selector for “w/o BL (fixed)” and “w/o BL (remesh)”: Non BL boundary regions can be defined
as “fixed” or “remesh”. This is relevant if two surfaces are meshed sequentially and a matching
interface is required.
• Elements to region component: Option to place the newly generated surface elements into the
region’s component or into two new components (old behavior) has been added.
• Boundary layer reduction: Automatic and manual reduction of the boundary layer thickness
to avoid intersection has been included. This is similar to the mechanism available in the CFD
Tetramesh panel.
Nearly Unoffsetable Nodes
The boundary layer generation for complex geometry (nearly unoffsetable nodes) has been improved
drastically. A user defined node collapse angle, defining the threshold for boundary layer collapse, has
been introduced.
Surface Remeshing for Refinement Box
Option to remesh surface elements if they are included in a refinement box has been improved. The
