Unlike the other centres, PREDA is still financially supported by the Swiss<br />
International Development Agency (Ministry of Economy 2005).<br />
There are seven business incubators active at the moment: the Incubator Delčevo,<br />
the Incubator “Turtel” Štip, the Incubator “Biljana” Prilep, the Incubator Saša, the Deni<br />
Incubator Veleš, the Giča Incubator Ohrid, and the Inkubator Strumica. Those<br />
incubators were established by the World Bank in 1997 with a purpose to support the<br />
start-up of businesses.<br />
Another incubator, Business Start-up Center Bitola was formed with financial and<br />
experts assistance from SPARK (formerly ATA - the Academic Training Association -<br />
Amsterdam, <strong>Net</strong>herlands - further information is provided below) and another<br />
business incubator is in a phase of being created - the Youth Entrepreneurial Service<br />
– Business Incubator which is being attained with SOROS Foundation - Open<br />
Society Macedonia donation.<br />
The FYR of Macedonia with its Business Start-up Centre Bitola actively participates<br />
in the Southeast European <strong>Net</strong>work of Business Start-up Centers and<br />
Incubators (SENSI). The network was set up under the auspices of the SPARK in<br />
Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on October 20, 2006, and is a regional network of<br />
business start-up centres and incubators with more than 20 members trough the<br />
whole region of Southeast region (from Slovenia to Macedonia).<br />
By bringing together the different local backgrounds, shared experiences, forces and<br />
know-how of business starts-up centres and incubators in 8 countries (Slovenia,<br />
Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and the<br />
<strong>Net</strong>herlands), SENSI members aim to improve their support and business services to<br />
young entrepreneurs and start-ups.<br />
In cooperation with Universities from South East Europe, local governmental<br />
institutions and local business communities, SENSI enhances the capacity of<br />
entrepreneurship in South East Europe.<br />
