international treaties? Are <strong>the</strong>y in <strong>the</strong> end better <strong>of</strong>f than domestic companies, due<br />

to international treaties that regulate <strong>the</strong>ir rights, but not <strong>the</strong>ir obligations? Is national<br />

jurisdiction being hollowed out <strong>and</strong> surpassed by international treaties on investment<br />

protection? Are transnational companies problematic due to <strong>the</strong>ir actions, <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

globally-optimizing pure pr<strong>of</strong>it orientation <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir mere size? And finally: What role<br />

can international treaties <strong>and</strong> agreements between states have that focus on foreign<br />

investment?
