323 Apart f.rom the sîgnîficant difference between embryos with myeloschisìs and the controls in Reglon C, there is little distinction between the control embryos and the exper¡mental embryos with myeloschlsls or wîth no defects. This suggests that neural rrovergrowthrt is not an essential component of myeloschlsis between Stages l6 and 20. There are however slgniflcant differences in neural t¡ssue/notochord ratlos between embryos wìth myelodysplasia and each of the other three categories in both Regions C and D. Myelodysplasia ls therefore characterized by reduction ln the volume of neural tlssue.
