The Urquharts and the Davidsons,
The Parkers and the Prests,
The Turners, Housleys, Smalls, and Smiths,
The Bissetts, and the Wests,
Throw care and commerce all aside,
At ledger and at tUl,
Let simpering girls and 'prentice boys
Do business as they will.
Bid craftsmen's strokes unheeded ring
On metals and on logs,
Fling writs and warrants to the winds.
And physic to the dogs,
And march to Bramall lane to prove
Their prowess in the field,
And show themselves the sons of sires
Who knew not how to yield.
They are coming ! they are coming
By highway and by raU,
On foot, on horse, in coach, and car.
The currents never fail.
From Glasgow and from Ediabro',
From Manchester and Leeds,
And fifty smaller towns arrive
The men of doughty deeds.
The merry maids and matrons.
In sUks and satins dight.
Their faces radiant as the mom.
Their eyes the stars of night,
From north and south, from east and west.
Wherever life can be,
The human streams are pouring in
To swell the hving sea
Amidst them all, our President,
Our counsellor and head.
