THE YOUNG BEITON's BEPLY TO OLD BRITISH CEOAKEES. 147
Sweet freedom made the right of all
"Where'er our banners wave.
Beneath our sway the freer man
More nobly walks abroad,
In soul elate with higher thought,
More love to man and God."
We tell the croakers, one and all,
That Britain stands sublime ;
Nor shall her growing glories cease
To match the march of time.
The sacred trusts our sires have left
We'll guard with jealous care ;
The laurels planted by their hands
Shall prouder laurels bear.
The conquests by their valour won
We'll labour to increase,
Not through the arts of murderous War,
But through celestial Peace.
We'll strive to make Britannia shine
In all that's good and wise
A star to show the tribes of men
The pathway to the skies.
