But sweet aifection curtained round
Our aged mother's head,
And wilHng hands were ever found
To soften her dying bed ;
And kindred gathered to lay her low
With all the trappings of
decent woe.
Thus, like a tranquil Summer's eve.
Our mother's life went out,
Leaving nought whereat we may grieve
Eemembrance of pain or doubt
She simply sank to her rest like one
Whose long, long task was worthily done.

Ye tender hearts and true.
Who, we being fast in Mammon's ranks.
So valiantly battled through.
To soften our mother's dying bed.
And lay in the grave her honoured head.
