On the slaves who, submissive, have bent to his yoke.<br />

Proud Pharaoh will rivet the bonds they have broke<br />

The masses of water may threatfully frown.<br />

But the prey's in his grasp, <strong>and</strong> the day is his own!<br />

Ah, Pharaoh, remember the plagues of thy l<strong>and</strong>,<br />

They came, <strong>and</strong> they went, at Jehovah's comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

Bemember that morning of horror <strong>and</strong> wail.<br />

When the flower of thy Kingdom lay lifeless <strong>and</strong> pale<br />

. Who armed the destroyer <strong>and</strong> guided his sword ?<br />

Eemember, <strong>and</strong> quake at the power of the Lord<br />

Every heart sunk in dread, <strong>and</strong> rolled every eye.<br />

When the billowy bulwark was loosed from on High<br />

But the yell of the conflict, when foes rush on foes.<br />

Were a dulcimer's note to the shriek which arose.<br />

As inward the waters, on left <strong>and</strong> on right,<br />

Swept, whelming the King <strong>and</strong> his warriors of might.<br />

Thus vainly are thous<strong>and</strong>s equipt for the field,<br />

A thread is the corslet, a cobweb the shield<br />

All pointless the arrow, <strong>and</strong> powerless the sword.<br />

When opposed to the puissant arm of the Lord
