He blent the whole to represent
A perfect human creature.
But had he lived in later times,
He might have spared his travel,
And found perfection all in one,
Beyond the power of cavil.

Now, 'midst Beaumont's fragrant bowers.
Chasing birds, or culling flowers.
Chasing painted butterflies
Underneath the summer skies—
All that's beautiful and sweet,
There you fly with fairy feet.
Fly till you are tired and weary.
Slumber then like sleeping Peri
Pity childhood is so short
Ah !
methinks it would be heaven
To be back with you at seven.
