Confirmation Services Technical Guide Table D-1 Header Error Messages That Cause Rejection of Entire Electronic File Error Message Record Position What It Means D-U-N-S NUMBER NOT NUMERIC 004–025 The D-U-N-S Number in the Electronic File Number field of the Header Record is not a numeric value. DUPLICATE MANIFEST CORRECTIONS MUST BE WITHIN 30 DAYS DUPLICATE MANIFEST MUST USE SAME DT/TM 004–025 The manifest ID was already posted to the database. Retransmitting a file for purposes of corrections with the same file number must occur within 30 days of original file. 044–025 026–039 The manifest ID was already posted to the database. Retransmitting a file for purposes of corrections with the same file number must use the same date/time as the original file. H1 HEADER REC TYPE MISSING 001–130 Header Record is missing. H1/D1 HDR/DTL REC TYPES MISSING 001–002 The Electronic File Header Record ID of H1 and the Electronic File Detail Record ID of D1 are missing. INVALID BARCODE FORMAT FOR HEADER 002–025 The format for the electronic file number is invalid, such as an incorrect Service Type Code. The electronic file number must include a Service Type Code of “50”, a D-U-N-S Number, and a sequence number. INVALID DEVELOPER ID CODE 078–080 The Developer ID Code field of the Header Record is not a valid code within the Postal Service database. INVALID D-U-N-S NUMBER 004–025 The D-U-N-S Number in the Electronic File Number field of the Header Record does not appear in the customer table. INVALID ENTRY FACILITY 040–044 The entry facility ZIP in the Header Record is not a valid 5-digit ZIP Code of a Postal Service facility. INVALID MAILING DATE 026–033 The Mailing Date field in the Header Record must be YYYYMMDD. INVALID MAILING TIME 034–039 The Mailing Time field in the Header Record must be HHMMSS. INVALID PRODUCT VERSION NUMBER 081–088 The Product Version Number field of the Header Record is not a version number within the Postal Service database. INVALID SEQ NBR IN MANIFEST FILE-ID 004–025 The sequential digits in the Electronic File Number field of the Header Record must be eight characters, may be right justified with preceding zeros, or left justified if using UCC/EAN 128 symbology. INVALID USPS MANIFEST VERSION NUMBER 075–077 The Postal Service Electronic File Version Number field in the Header Record is not a valid number. MAILING DATE IS NOT NUMERIC 026–033 The Mailing Date field in the Header Record is not a numeric value (no hyphens, slash symbols, etc.). MAILING TIME IS NOT NUMERIC 034–039 The Mailing Time field in the Header Record is not a numeric value >0 and

INVALID CLASS OF MAIL 003–004 The Class of Mail field in Detail Record 1 is not a valid class of mail. See record layout and description for this field in Appendix A. INVALID CTRY CODE 036–037 Class of mail field in Detail Record 1 is “IE” and country code field contains an invalid country code. INVALID DETAIL RECORD 001–002 Unrecognizable Detail Record indicator. INVALID D-U-N-S NUMBER IN PIC 005–026 The D-U-N-S Number in the PIC does not appear in the Postal Service customer table. INVALID SEQ NUMBER IN PIC 005–026 The significant digits in the PIC field of Detail Record 1 are not numeric. INVALID SERVICE TYPE CODE IN PIC 005–026 The Service Type Code in the PIC is not a valid Service Type Code. LABEL AND 3-DIGIT DEST ZIP PREVIOUSLY MANIFESTED 005–026 027–031 The combination of PIC field in Detail Record 1 with the Destination ZIP Code field in Detail Record 1 indicates this record is duplicated from a previously submitted electronic file.
