Confirmation Services Technical Guide Table D-3 Header or Detail Record Warning Messages That DO NOT Cause Rejection Error Message HEADER RECORD DUPLICATE MANIFEST FOUND—PROCESSED AS CORRECTIONS INVALID MANIFEST TYPE; DEFAULT TO MANIFEST TYPE 2 INVALID RECORD COUNT SPECIFIED MAILING DT NOT WITHIN 3 DAYS OF SYSTEM DATE DETAIL RECORD DEST ZIP MUST BE ALL ZEROES FOR INTL DEST ZIP NOT SERVICED BY ENTRY FACILITY INVALID CLASS OF MAIL/SVC TYPE CD COMBO INVALID DEST RATE IND; DEFAULT TO N INVALID DEST RATE IND/ENTRY FACILITY COMBO Record Position What It Means 004–025 An electronic file with this number in the Electronic File Number field of the Header Record has been submitted previously. 003 The electronic file type was changed to ‘2’ to reflect a file and not a manifest. 089–097 The File Record Count field in the Header Record does not match the Postal Service count of records in this transmission. 026–033 The Mailing Date field is not within 3 days of the system date (before or after). 003–004 027–031 If the Class of Mail field in Detail Record 1 is IE, then the destination ZIP Code field in Detail Record 1 must be all zeros. 056 The destination ZIP Code in the detail record is not serviced by the entry facility ZIP Code listed in the Header Record. This message applies to drop-ship package services. 003–004 005–026 The Class of Mail field in Detail Record 1 does not match the appropriate Service Type Code in the first two positions of the Package Identification Code (PIC) of Detail Record 1. See Appendix B for the most current list of active Service Type Codes. 056 The destination rate indicator in the Detail Record is invalid. Valid values are ‘B’, ‘S’, ‘D’, and blank. This message applies to drop-ship package services. 056 The destination rate indicator in the detail record does not match the entry facility type. For example, if the entry facility is a bulk mail center, the destination rate indicator in the Detail Record should be “B”. This message applies to drop-ship package services. INVALID DESTINATION ZIP CODE 027–031 The 5-digit ZIP Code in the Destination ZIP Code field of Detail Record 1 is not a valid ZIP Code as compared to the current Postal Service ZIP Code table. We store the first three digits unless not numeric, then nulls. We do not give back anything in the extract if we only store three. INVALID STATE—REJECTING ADDRESS 245–246 The two-character state code is not a valid abbreviation. This specific address will not be posted in the database. POSTAGE NOT NUMERIC 038–044 The Postage field of Detail Record 1 is not a numeric value of 9(7). SUB CUSTOMER NOT A VALID D-U-N-S 122–130 The D-U-N-S Number in the client D-U-N-S Number field of Detail Record 1 is not a valid D-U-N-S Number. 60 Publication 91, September 2002

INVALID RECORD 001–002 The record ID is not ‘EH’. SHIPPING PARTNER DUNS NOT VALID DETAIL RECORD CLIENT DUNS NOT A VALID DUNS NUMBER 003–011 The shipping partner D-U-N-S Number is not a certified customer D-U-N-S Number. 062–070 The client D-U-N-S Number is not a certified customer D-U-N-S Number. ED-DETAIL RECORD(S) MISSING 001–002 The Detail Record ID of ‘ED’ is missing. EVENT DATE IS NOT NUMERIC 048–055 The Event Date field must be numeric. EVENT TIME IS NOT NUMERIC 056–061 The Event Time field must be numeric. INVALID BARCODE 003–036 The Package Identification Code (PIC) is not a valid format for Delivery Confirmation. INVALID D-U-N-S NUM IN LABEL 003–036 The D-U-N-S Number in the PIC is not a certified customer D-U-N-S Number. INVALID EVENT CODE 037–038 The Event Code is not 80, 81, or 82. INVALID EVENT DATE 048–055 The Event Date field in the Header Record must be YYYYMMDD. INVALID EVENT TIME 056–061 The Event Time field in the Header Record must be HHMMSS. INVALID RECORD 001–002 The record ID is not ‘ED’. INVALID SER NUM IN LABEL 003–036 The serial number of the PIC is not numeric. INVALID SERVICE TYPE CODE 003–036 The Service Type Code in the PIC is not valid. INVALID SERVICE TYPE CODE IN 003–036 The Service Type Code in the PIC is not valid.
