TOURISM
A prospectus of the Wonders of Wynyard has been sent to South Pacific Tours
for consideration for inclusion in the 2008/2009 cruising offshore activity
itineraries for cruise ships coming into Burnie. Submissions are reviewed in
April 2008 and Council will be notified thereafter.
Cradle Coast Tours have confirmed that the Wonders of Wynyard will be
included on the Stanley Tour itinerary that is offered to cruise ship passengers
not already participating in pre-confirmed offshore tours.
A letter and brochure has been sent to AAT Kings requesting that the Wonders
of Wynyard be included on their North West tours.
The next newsletter to operators will be sent in January. Topics to be
discussed in the newsletter include:
• Proposed tourism boundary changes by Tourism Tasmania
• Australia Day Aussie Breakfast
• Update on the Tulip Festival
The Cradle Coast Authority has distributed the North West Regional Guide,
and work has already commenced on increasing and enhancing the Waratah-
Wynyard content for the 2009 edition.
Council received a grant for $5,000 to improve interpretive signage at the
Waratah museum, and to develop a Waratah tourism booklet. Work will
commence on these projects in the next few months.
