12.0 Siting of Developments Schedule
The intent of this schedule is to:
(a) protect aspects of visual and environmental significance of the
planning area; and
(b) prevent use or development occurring in locations where there is risk
of future property damage or lives are placed at risk.
Table 12.1 Issue 1.0:- Environmental and Visual Impact
Objective: To protect the environmental and visual qualities of rural and
coastal landscapes in the Primary Industries, Environmental Management and
Residential Zones through ensuring that buildings, structures and other works
are located and constructed so as to minimize their impacts.

associated works are to be on
slopes of less than 6 degrees

Performance Criteria
Slopes
1.1 Building, private roads and
associated works may occur on
slopes >1:10 provided it can be
demonstrated that:
(a) stormwater is managed to
ensure maximum on site
absorption and retention.
Water movement downslope
from the building or
structure shall not be
greater than existing before
development. Roads shall
follow contours and manage
runoff to prevent erosion;
(b) buildings shall utilise
techniques which minimise
the need for excavation or
fill for foundations and
associated hardstand areas;
